Obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) is very much underdiagnosed and has significant health implications.   CPAP has been successfully used for years to treat sleep apnea and does a great job for those who can tolerate it.

However, many patients with mild to moderate sleep apnea have been treated with oral devices that are far more comfortable to wear than CPAP.  To treat your sleep apnea, our doctors will prescribe and fit a custom-made oral appliance that will safely maintain your airway in an open position.  Many patients (and spouses!) also notice a reduction or elimination of snoring.

Obstructive sleep apnea is a very serious medical condition, which left untreated can shorten life expectancy by approximately 10 years and lead to other serious health conditions.  The condition is extremely under-diagnosed (only 10% of people with sleep apnea have been diagnosed).  If your find that you are often tired during the day no matter how much sleep you get, snore loudly or gasp for breath during your sleep, or are moody or irritable, you may wish to be evaluated for sleep apnea.

At Larson Dental, we use a number of dental appliances to treat sleep apnea.  We strive to select the most comfortable device to treat the sleep apnea effectively.  The picture below is an example of one of the appliances we use in the patient's mouth.  Dental sleep apnea appliances can be quite comfortable and allow sufficient movement of the mouth for speech or sipping water.

Fillings

We offer several types of fillings - each have advantages for certain situations.   Composites (tooth colored fillings) offer a great combination of esthetics (they match the color of existing teeth) and strength.   Amalgams (silver fillings) give patients a proven material that has passed the test of time.

Crowns

When a tooth is compromised due to decay or fracture, a crown may be placed to improve both the prognosis and appearance of the tooth.  Today's porcelain crowns offer great combinations of esthetics and strength.  This restoration can be completed in two routine visits.

Veneers

When a tooth is chipped, damaged, or discolored, veneers offer an excellent way to restore a tooth's appearance.   As will crowns, today's materials offer an unprecedented combination of esthetics and strength.  We can match a single veneer to the color of neighboring teeth or place multiple veneers to overhaul an entire smile.

Bridges

Bridges can be used to quickly replace one or missing teeth with a restoration that utilizes the strength and natural appearance of porcelain.
